Additional Information
Weather Policy / Cancelled Classes
Class will be cancelled if Portland declares a citywide snow ban. Class cancellations will be announced on the website, our email list, and via outgoing voicemail no later than 3pm for evening classes, or 8am for daytime classes. We will schedule makeup classes.
What to Wear & Bring:
Wear clothing that you can move in, and that shows your posture. Tank tops and yoga pants are perfect. Intermediate / Advanced dancers: If you have a 10+ yard skirt, please wear it in class. (Gentlemen, please wear your pantaloons.)
Hip scarves are nice for showing movement, but not required. I prefer hip scarves without coins for class time, as the noise can be distracting, and coins can fall off and get stepped on.
Footwear is useful, but not required. Ballet slippers, jazz shoes, Hermes sandals, or even socks will decrease friction and protect your feet from unpredictable flooring.
Finger Cymbals (Zills): All students will need a set of zills. I usually have them for purchase ($25), or you can bring your own. You will need to sew the elastic to fit your fingers before use.
It's also good idea to bring a dance notebook and something to write with, especially for workshops.
Please do not chew gum in class. Your teacher is First Aid and CPR certified, but would rather not have to practice the Heimlich maneuver on you.
